Collectors Care Art Exhibition

On Wednesday 5th April Samaritans opened our 11th Collectors Care Art Exhibition.

The Exhibition featured an amazing range of over 100 works from local artists including oils, watercolour, glass, sand blown copper, sculpture and painted wooden cases. Every year, Collectors Care raises thousands of dollars to Samaritans services that do not receive any Government funding. Opening Night coincided with Youth Homelessness Matters Day to raise awareness of the 36,000 young people in Australia without a home and the importance of support services like Samaritans Student Accommodation – an unfunded service.

Artists generously donated 35% commission of their sales to Samaritans. We were grateful to have a great turn out on Opening Night with funds raised through artwork purchases and raffle ticket sales.

Thank you to Newcastle TAFE Art School for providing a fantastic venue and to the event sponsors, EVENT cinema, Print Nova and Newcastle Herald for their kind support. Thank you to the artists, volunteers, Collectors Care Committee and curator Gael Davies, who has been assisting with the Exhibition over 8 years!
