Why volunteer with Samaritans?
Samaritans has been supporting the community since 1984. We have a long history of unconditional care and support for all members of society. From a simple op-shop, a family care centre and emergency relief services in the 1980s to more than 100 support services throughout Newcastle, Central Coast, Hunter Valley and the Central West, Samaritans is widely regarded as one of New South Wales’ favourite non-profit organisations.
Want to know more about our goals, vision, and philosophies? Get to know our cause a little better below:
At Samaritans, we seek to provide unconditional support for people in need and promote social and economic policies that alleviate human suffering.
Our vision is to create communities where there is love, peace, justice, reconciliation and dignity for all people; where there is care for the vulnerable and their environment; and where each individual has the opportunity to contribute and participate fully in the community.
The Samaritans Foundation believes that people presently experiencing disadvantage have the right, equally with others, to fully participate in and contribute to community life. Samaritans seeks to express God’s care to all people by promoting acceptance, justice, reconciliation, peace and dignity for all.
