CHRISTMAS LUNCHES: Due to current COVID-19 restrictions that Samaritans has in place, we are continuing to plan and review how we will deliver Samaritans Christmas lunches this year. That means there are no Christmas volunteering roles at this time. We will email all previous volunteers and update this page when volunteering opportunities for Christmas are available.
Who are we?
- Samaritans is one of Australia’s largest regional welfare organisations, providing a wide range of services for children, youth, families and those with a disability.
- Our vision is to build communities where there is care for the vulnerable and where each individual has the opportunity to contribute and participate fully in community life.
- Behind this vision is a united team made up of over 800 staff members and 400 volunteers who work together throughout Newcastle, Hunter, Central Coast, Mid-Western and the Mid-North Coast regions of NSW.

Pat, Emergency Relief Volunteer
“I’ve always found it important to give back to the community where I live. It’s my community and if I can do something to make it better and help people to live a better life, I will. And we never know when we’re going to be in a situation where we might need help too”
