Disability Activities

Samaritans offers quality social and recreational disability activities in Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Maitland, Upper Hunter, Central Coast, Mid North Coast and surrounds, with excellent staff who support you to achieve your dreams.

We know that you need flexible support to give you real choice and control which is why our local organisation offers support as individual as you are.

If you like group activities we can connect you with one of our quality programs in your local community.

Some of our groups include:

  • Saturday Fun Club: Provides out-of-home respite care through fun and exciting centre based activities for school aged children who have a disability.
  • Integrated Vacation Care: Primary school aged children who have a disability enjoy fun and exciting excursions or are supported at mainstream vacation care centres.
  • Flexible Respite Options: Provides flexible respite options for primary carers of a person who has a disability.
  • 13-17YO: Provides social support to teenagers (aged 13 to 17 years) who have a disability to further their access to community-based activities.

One of our team members can also come and work with you one on one in an activity you enjoy.

We also love to take you to the social activity you enjoy so you can build friendships in the wider community.

Whether it be art, music or sports anything is possible at Samaritans.

Meet the Stewart Family

“The NDIA is really person- centred so its allowed Michelle to choose pretty much what her supports will be based on. It’s her decision- it’s all about her basically. She gets to choose what activities she wants to do.”

– Noelene Stewart (mother)
