Early Learning Centre- Woodberry
Woodberry Early Learning Centre provides early childhood education and care to families in Woodberry and surrounding areas, including Maitland, Beresfield and the Hunter Valley.
Woodberry Early Learning Centre (WELC) is a fully accredited, non-profit, community-based child care centre located in Woodberry.
It provides high quality care for children aged from 6 weeks to 6 years and is open from 8am – 5:30pm, Monday to Friday, 49 weeks per year.
Licensed for up to 30 children daily, the centre is staffed by a dedicated team, committed to ensuring all children’s safety and well-being.
It incorporates the Early Years’ Learning Framework into all aspects of our daily program, with children encouraged to choose from a variety of activities that support their development and learning, as well as stimulating and challenging their minds in a fun and enjoyable way. Materials and experiences are open ended, enabling children to develop creativity, problem solving skills and giving them opportunity to construct their own knowledge. An inclusive Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspective is incorporated in the program as is a school readiness program for 3-5 year olds.
The centre has 2 playrooms: the Jarjums room for 0-3 year olds and the Booris room for 3-5 year olds. This ensures a more flexible environment for the older children and a safe, secure environment for the younger children. Children are provided a nutritious meal prepared by a qualified cook and the weekly menu is reflective of the cultural diversity of families.
The centre is situated opposite Francis Greenway High School and is in the Woodberry Family Centre, sharing the building with the Benevolent Society, Catholic Care and Maitland Family Support.
Please contact the centre for additional information and/or to arrange a time to visit and meet the team.
