Samaritans Chaplain

Samaritans Chaplain offers pastoral and spiritual care to staff, volunteers, people we support and the broader community connected to our organisation. This is available to all people regardless of faith or cultural background.

The Chaplain’s role is also an important community connector, working with local parishes as well as other Anglican chaplains in the health, justice and aged care sectors. Through spiritual guidance the Chaplain aims to enrich the potential outcomes of the delivery of social justice through Samaritans services in the Diocese of Newcastle.

Who is Samaritans Chaplain?

Josephine Snowdon joined Samaritans in 2017. She is originally from Melbourne where she worked as an Anglican Chaplain and in lay parish ministry. Josephine is licenced by the Anglican Bishop of Newcastle to be the Chaplain of Samaritans. Having a background in
occupational therapy Josephine’s ministry also has a focus on a person’s abilities and spirituality through Pastoral Care. In her spare time, Josephine enjoys the creative arts, walking her dog Pippa, and spending time with her family.
