Wicked: Charity Opening Night

Samaritans is grateful for our ongoing partnership with the Metropolitan Players, who will again support our work in the community through the opening night of their 2016 production of Wicked.

Awe-inspiring and spectacular, WICKED is the untold story of the witches of Oz. Long before Dorothy dropped in, two other girls meet in the Land of Oz Elphaba, born with emerald-green skin, is smart, fiery and misunderstood. Galinda is beautiful, ambitious and very popular. WICKED tells the enthralling story of two unlikely friends and how they became the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good. WICKED, the multi award-winning classical musical has been playing on Broadway since 2003 and is now the 10th longest running show in the West End. Audience will enjoy show-stopping songs by Academy Award winner, Stephen Schwartz, adapted for the stage by Winnie Holzman. Following on from Metropolitan Player’s hugely successful productions of “The Phantom of the Opera”, “Hairspray” and “Mary Poppins”, prepare to be spellbound when Metropolitan Players bring this gravity-defying production to life for Newcastle audiences.

The charity opening night of Metropolitan Player’s production of Wicked is on August 24 at Civic Theatre, Newcastle at 8pm. Tickets are just $55 each and a percentage of every ticket sold will support the work of Samaritans, making a difference in the lives of those in need.
