Samaritans offers Early Childhood Education to Equip Children for the Future

Samaritans Early Childhood Team’s philosophy is supported by the Early Years Learning Framework helping children to develop lifelong skills for ‘Belonging, Being and Becoming’ in our community.

As defined in mychild.gov.au, ‘The Early Years Learning Framework has a strong emphasis on play-based learning. The framework also recognises the importance of communication and language (including early literacy and numeracy) and social and emotional development. In addition, the framework has a focus on successful transition to formal schooling.’  The Early Years Learning Framework is a national initiative.

The framework offers a vision where “all children experience learning that is engaging and builds success for life.”  That is what Samaritans strives to achieve through our Early Childhood programs.  Our Early Learning Centre’s, located in Newcastle and Woodberry, offer a caring, challenging and stimulating environment that enables children to develop to their full potential.  The school readiness program also provides children aged 3-5 with the skills, knowledge and tools to prepare them for school.   By incorporating the Early Years Learning Framework in the Early Learning Centre’s daily program, children are free to choose from a range of activities following their own interests.
