How will you celebrate International Day of People with Disability?

On December 3, International Day of People with Disability (IDPwD) will be celebrated globally. IDPwD is a United Nations sanctioned day that aims to increase public awareness, understanding and acceptance of people with disabilities and celebrate their achievements and contributions.

The year’s theme for International Day of People with Disability is ‘Promoting the participation of persons with disabilities and their leadership: taking action on the 2030 Development Agenda’.

According to the United Nations, the 2019 theme focuses on the empowerment of persons with disabilities for inclusive, equitable and sustainable development. This development is envisaged in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, which pledges to ‘leave no one behind’.

Samaritans offers several services to those with a disability and take pride in being able to support people in our community. With IDPwD only a week away, we’ve put together a list of fun, exciting events you may be interested in. From talent shows to bush dances and gala dinners, there are plenty of ways you can enjoy and support IDPwD in our regions.
