Best Op Shops in Newcastle

August 27th to 2nd September 2017 is the official National Op Shop Week in Australia. It’s a time to celebrate all the fantastic work that goes into making an Op Shop such a valuable part of local communities everywhere.

According to the ABC, Australia generates 6000 kg of “fashion waste” every 10 minutes. That is a confronting statistic when contrasted with the amount of disadvantaged people in our country that are finding it difficult to afford sufficient clothing and shelter.

Newcastle is lucky enough to have a vast collection of outstanding Op Shops that provide quality clothing, furniture, appliances and general household items. Op shops are perfect for those who are waste conscious and want to recycle, those who simply want a bargain, as well as those who may be struggling financially and need a cost effective solution.

We must also extend a big thank you to each and every one the community members that generously donate their belongings to Op Shops, and of course to the tireless volunteer staff who keep the stores running.
