What our SIL participants have been up to lately

Wayne from our Adamstown SIL recently celebrated his 60th birthday surrounded by friends, family, and plenty of smiles and laughter.

Wayne took the lead in planning his special day, organising every detail from creating invitations to hand delivering them to his friends and family.

It was a wonderful celebration, and Wayne had such a great time that he's still talking about it weeks later!

We wish Wayne a very happy birthday and all the best for the year ahead. 🎂🎈

Julie, from our Merewether Supported Independent Living (SIL), recently enjoyed a wonderful evening at Footloose: The Musical at the Civic Theatre.

From the lively music and energetic performances to the vibrant atmosphere, it was a fantastic opportunity for Julie to get out and about, connect with the community, and enjoy a memorable experience.

Outings like these help build confidence, encourage social connection, and create opportunities to explore new interests while having fun. 

Friday night lights, roaring crowds, and the unmistakable buzz of McDonald Jones Stadium: there’s nothing quite like game night in Newcastle 💙❤️

For Kevin, it’s one of his favourite places to be!

A passionate Newcastle Knights supporter, Kevin loves the energy of the crowd and the excitement of cheering on his team. 

On this winning night for the Knights, Kevin’s smile said it all as he met a member of the Knights Cheer Sparkle Squad. 

It was a moment he won’t forget anytime soon!

Kevin, a resident at our Gateshead Supported Independent Living (SIL), was joined at the game by fellow Knights fan Kristie – from Warabrook SIL.

They danced with the Knights mascot, snapped a photo by the famous Knights sign, and enjoyed some of the games in the outdoor area. 

After the game, the fun continued on the ride home, with stories about football shared between friends and a singalong to Fleetwood Mac rounding out a memorable evening.
