Volunteers play a crucial role across Newcastle Anglican – in our parishes, schools, and agencies.
As part of National Volunteer Week celebrations, a few of our incredible Samaritans volunteers enjoyed morning tea together at Wallsend retail store.

Why did you choose to volunteer?
It makes me happy. I love working with the ladies at the shop. We share moments together outside of work and love to help make our customers happy.
Can you recall a meaningful experience, memorable moment or story that has stayed with you?
One of our lovely customers, who I became great friends with, invited me to her 90th birthday. This is just one of many memorable moments I have had since becoming a volunteer here.

The two days that I work at Wallsend are the best therapy any person can get.

- A homeless man came in looking for a jacket. He was so appreciative of our help. It was nice to know we had made someone’s day a lot better.
- The ladies I work with are the best. I have made lifelong friends, and I always look forward to my days working with them. I also have the best boss ever.
