Samaritans has successfully secured the future of Early Learning Centres at Newcastle and Woodberry, providing stability for children and staff.
Samaritans will transfer the operating licence of the centres to childcare provider Sera Direct Pty Ltd. Tenancy agreements are being arranged by landlords, Newcastle City Council and Maitland City Council.
Samaritans carefully considered a number of proposed operators, both not-for-profit and for-profit organisations. The decision to transition to Sera Direct Pty Ltd was based on assurances children and staff will be able to continue at the centres if they wish to stay on.
Samaritans will cease operations on December 20,2024. The centres are expected to reopen under the new operators in January 2025.
