Frank, a resident of Samaritans Elermore Vale Supported Independent Living (SIL) house, recently embarked on a well deserved holiday to Nelson Bay.
Samaritans Disability Support Worker, Selena, supported Frank on his holiday and told us all about his adventure.
Frank recently went on a holiday to Nelson Bay. On the first day of his holiday, Frank went to Oakvale Farm where he walked around the exhibits looking at the reptiles and the animals. The baby goats were great - they kept following us and making Frank laugh as they butted their heads against my legs and escaped through the fence! Frank enjoyed watching the Meerkats and saluted them as he watched.
After a big day at Oakvale, we checked-in to our Hotel and went out for dinner down at the Marina. Frank enjoyed walking along the esplanade, eating an ice cream, and talking about the boats harbored in the marina and how he would love to own one of them.
The next day, Frank was up early, excited about catching the ferry over to Tea Gardens. The weather held out for us, only slightly spitting. Frank saw dolphins and then we went for lunch at the Tea Gardens Hotel. Frank browsed the local shops and then we headed back to the terminal to catch the Ferry. Frank had a rest and then went out for dinner and a walk down by the water.
On the last day of his holiday, Frank went to the Port Stephens Koala Sanctuary where he walked around and looked at the koalas. Some Koalas where awake and feeding, while others were hiding up in the trees. Frank had lunch at Salamander and then we returned home.
Frank has spoken about his holiday every day since and is hoping to go away at the end of the year. Start saving your money Frank!
