New Year Resolutions
What is your New Year resolution? Haven’t got one yet – we’ve got some ideas for you!
As we near the end of 2017, many of us will reflect on the year that was and turn our thoughts to the New Year. Whether you want to spend more quality time with your family this year or work towards a personal goal, the holiday season can be a time for self-reflection and evaluation.
This year, Samaritans encourages everyone to seize this opportunity of reflection to think beyond themselves and consider their communities. In addition to any newfound healthy eating habits or morning yoga routines, embrace positivity and think about the benefits of doing something good in your community.
As the clock strikes midnight on December 31 and you cement your New Year Resolutions, here are some ideas to consider:
- Donate your goods
Received some Christmas gifts that weren’t on your wish list? Samaritans Shops are always in need of donations of clothing, linen and bric-a-brac. Why not commit to donating all of your pre-loved items or unwanted Christmas presents to charity this year? No kind act is too small if it is benefiting someone in need.
- Volunteer your time
At Samaritans, our volunteers are responsible for great work within our services. By donating their time and skills, volunteers make a huge difference in people’s lives, and contribute to their communities. - Stay up-to-date
Be an active and positive influence in your community by staying up-to-date on social justice issues and advocating for the rights of vulnerable groups. You can stand with us and help raise awareness by sharing our social media posts on Samaritans Facebook and Twitter, continuing to read Samaritans blog and joining our mailing list to stay updated – just head to our homepage here and scroll to the bottom.
