Christmas at Samaritans

Christmas is a wonderfully busy time at Samaritans. Some of our activities include:

– Christmas lunches

Each year Samaritans hosts Christmas lunches on Christmas Day, at various locations.

The annual event hosted by Samaritans began 16 years ago as a simple lunch and has since grown into Newcastle’s largest Christmas celebration.  Guests enjoy a free Christmas Lunch, entertainment and a visit from Santa!

We couldn’t do it without the support of our very generous sponsors!

Thank you to all of the kind businesses who are supporting Christmas Lunch on the Coast 2017:

Volunteers play a crucial role in assisting with our Christmas Lunches and we are grateful for the support of over 450 people!

– Giving Trees

At Christmas time we run Samaritans Christmas Assistance. Local businesses put up Christmas Trees in the lead up to Christmas where people can leave donated Christmas presents. These gifts then go to Samaritans Christmas Assistance where families, who cannot afford to purchase Christmas presents for their children, are invited to visit and select free toys.

In 2017, we were grateful for the support of over 50 organisations who set up a Giving Tree. This meant thousands of toys were donated to distribute to local children in need.

– Gift wrapping at shopping centres

Each year Samaritans runs Wrapped with Love at Stockland Glendale.  Shoppers are able to have their gifts wrapped for a gold coin donation in support of Samaritans Christmas Appeal.

We are grateful for the support of volunteers who support gift wrapping each year.
