Celebrating National Op Shop Week

Samaritans CEO

This week we celebrate National Op Shop Week! Samaritans has three Retail Stores in Hamilton, Wallsend and Mayfield.

With a selection of clothes, manchester, house hold items and bric-a-brac, our stores offer an affordable shopping option for families who may be struggling. Additionally, the money raised through our stores further assists those in need.

On average each year in Australia, more than 300,000 tonnes of clothes are donated to op shops, which would otherwise become landfill. Not only do op shops benefit the environment, they also provide volunteer opportunities for individuals to actively help their community.   Across our three stores Samaritans has over 70 volunteers!   Our volunteers are an integral part of the day-to-day store operations assisting with the sorting of donations and customer service.

In recognition of Op Shop Week I encourage you to consider cleaning out your wardrobes and donating to your local Retail Store. Currently, we are experiencing a shortage of donations so your generosity will be greatly appreciated.  Charity op shops are the oldest recycling industry in Australia so please help us keep our stores alive!
