Healthy Budget Bites - Become a Super Shopper!

More than just a healthy cook book, the Healthy Budget Bites is a guide that teaches you the secret to healthy eating on a budget, the facts on fat, how to read food labels, how to plan healthy meals on a budget and how to be a ‘Super Shopper’.

Healthy Budget Bites gives tips on healthy eating options and offers inexpensive recipes which are easy to prepare. Healthy Budget Bites also offers information that assists with everyday healthy eating and low cost living.

The guide is a joint project between Coalfields Healthy Heartbeat and Cessnock Community Dietitians from Hunter New England Health Service.

The guide is full of useful tips for the every day shopper to save money, save time and eat well: writing a shopping list, buying fruit and vegetables that are in season, freezing extra food, buying cheaper generic brands, and buying in bulk will make you a Super Shopper.

More tips: don’t shop when you are hungry, be aware of items with big bright tags that are not always on ‘special’ and always check your docket for mistakes in price or quantity and the special offers on the back.
