Welcome to the Clinical Services Unit

Samaritans’ Clinical Service Unit (CSU) provides clinical advice and support to the whole of the Samaritans organisation, including services for children, youth, people with disabilities, their families and support networks, and community services.
The CSU is also responsible for the development and implementation of the organisation's clinical governance framework as well as clinical leadership within and across the organisation.
Services can refer to the CSU for a support in a range of areas including (but not limited to):
· Advice and Consultation
· Clinical Input into Program and Policy Development
· Quality Assurance
· Assessment and Planning
· Staff Training and Support
· Provision of Clinical Resources
· Positive Behaviour Support services
· Facilitating Access to External Clinical Providers
In the context of behavioural support, the Clinical Services Unit is also responsible for the authorisation and monitoring of the use of practices deemed ‘restricted’ within the organisation as well as chairing the Samaritans Special Interest Group on Mental Health.
The Clinical Services unit also plays a vital role helping Samaritans’ staff develop their knowledge and awareness of “evidenced based practice” within the relevant industry, and to foster the implementation of new and innovative approaches in the provision our client service.
External agencies can also refer to the Clinical Services Unit on a ‘fee for service’ basis for the services listed above.
