There will be a carer who lives not far from you.
Registered carers provide quality childcare in their family environment. Caring for small groups of children they can provide individual attention for your child. Carers are able to form the bonds required for early brain development of young children.

In Home Care Quality Child Care In The Child's Own Home
In Home Care is a flexible form of child care where the care is provided in the child’s own home by an approved carer.
The care is monitored and supported by the Samaritans, an approved service provider to ensure quality outcomes for children.
In Home Care is designed for families who have no access to existing child care services, or their circumstances mean that an existing child care service cannot meet their needs. The family must meet one or more of the following criteria:
- The parent(s) work shift work or non standard hours.
- The family lives in a rural or remote area
- The family has a child with an illness or disability that reduces the family’s capacity to care for the child(ren).
- The Parent(s) have had a multiple birth (3 or more).
- The parent(s) have three or more children not yet attending school.

Opportunities also exist for In Home Carers, professional, dedicated child care workers who can earn an income caring for children in the children’s own home.

Training Calendar
Training is available to all carers. Families and other interested parties who would like to attend training should contact the Coordination Unit on Cessnock 49907402 or Singleton 65723810 to check for availability of positions in each session.
To register for a Session please contact the Scheme Office prior - booked numbers will make it easier to confirm dates and times. Cost of sessions will be advised at booking; standard cost is $10, however outside presenters may cost more.
- June - New Carer Training
- June - Behaviour Management
- July - 17th - Professionalism
- July - Admin update for new financial year
- August - Transition to School
- August - Community workshop for parents - behaviour management and fussy eating
- September - Carer Conference Saturday 18th at Greta Workers Club. Topics will include setting up envrionments and creative group times
- September - new carer training
- October - Asthma & Anaphylaxis in Singleton - 18 month VETAB training as required by NCAC. Those who attended in Cessnock last year DO NOT need to attend.
- November - Christmas craft and bon bons
- November - Felt board stories
- December - carer and staff Christmas dinner
New Carer Training
New Carer Training is designed to provide an introduction to the requirements of becoming a Family Day Carer.
Training is held over 5 days and covers topics such as programming and planning, care environments, child protection and business management. Resources are provided for each topic covered. Recognition of prior learning can be applied for on a case by case basis.
The calender for 2010 is as follows:
- June 7-11
- September 20-24
Sessions start at 8.30am and conclude around 3pm. New carer training will be held at either the Cessnock or Singleton Coordonation Unit offices dependant on where the majority of inquiries come from.
The cost for the training is $100
