You can assist Samaritans Recycling Division in several ways:
Donate
Samaritans operates ten recycled clothing stores across the Central Coast and Hunter regions, offering quality clothing at reasonable rates.
Some 13 tonnes of donations are made to Samaritans every week. While we are unable to accept donations of furniture or whitegoods, we welcome donations of quality garments, toys, bric a brac, accessories and linen that you no longer require. Donations made through the clothing bins are are collected and processed at the Cardiff warehouse where they are sorted for sale through the Samaritans Recycling stores, processed for wiper sales or sold as wholesale material goods. Alternatively, donations can be taken directly to the stores.
If you have any doubts about what is acceptable, consider whether it's in good enough condition to wear or use. If it isn't in good condition, we wouldn't be able to sell or use it and it will instead cost us money to dispose of it. Please feel free to call the warehouse or your closest Samaritans store for further advice.
Acceptable donations include
- Womens, men's, children's and babies clothing.
- Accessories: Shoes, Belts, Handbags, Men's Ties, Jewellery, Scarves, Backpacks, Sunglasses.
- Linen: Sheets, Doonas, Doona Covers, Pillow Cases, Cushions, Curtains, Blankets, Towels, Face Washers, Tea Towels,Table Clothes, Doilies, Material Remnants, Haberdashery items.
- Books, CDs, DVDs, Magazines.
- Toys: all in good order
- Bric n Brac: Covers all items in Kitchen Ware , Ornaments, Glassware, Dinner Sets, Vases, Photo Frames, Cane Ware.

Volunteers are the backbone of the Recycle Stores located at Hamilton South, Cessnock, Gosford, Maitland, Nelson Bay, Raymond Terrace, New Lambton, Wallsend and Windale. Through their services, Recycling has developed into a business with a turnover of over $1 million. Volunteers make the difference by enabling us to provide this service. All stores are accepting volunteers and we can provide flexible hours to suit all. Stores are happy to work around school hours for young mums and also half days and full days.
