Christmas is a wonderfully busy time at Samaritans.

If you are a local business or community member and want to support Samaritans this Christmas, please click here to complete the enquiry form at the bottom of this page.

Some of our activities include:

– Christmas lunches

In 2016 Samaritans will host THREE Christmas lunches on Christmas Day, at various locations:

  • Newcastle Foreshore Railsheds
  • Singleton Senior Citizens Centre
  • Wyong Race Club

Over 900 guests attended Newcastle’s Christmas Lunch in the Park, 2015.  The annual event hosted by Samaritans began 15 years ago as a simple lunch and has since grown into Newcastle’s largest Christmas celebration.  Guests enjoyed a free Christmas Lunch, entertainment and a visit from Santa with every child receiving a gift!

– Giving Trees

Each year Samaritans runs the Combined Charities Christmas Warehouse alongside The Salvation Army. Local businesses put up Christmas Trees in the lead up to Christmas where people can leave donated Christmas presents. These gifts then go to the Toy Warehouse where families who cannot afford to purchase Christmas presents for their children are invited to visit and select free toys.  In 2015 we assisted over 850 families to choose Christmas presents.  Over 75 organisations and community groups set up a Giving Tree for toy donations.

– Selling Christmas Cards

Christmas Cards

Each year Samaritans sells Christmas cards with proceeds going towards our Christmas Appeal, helping people in need in our local community. Stay tuned to see the 2016 Christmas cards!

– Gift wrapping at shopping centres

Over $5000 was raised in 2015 through Samaritans Christmas gift wrapping at Stockland Glendale! Volunteers donate their time to wrap gifts at 2 locations in Stockland Glendale to help us raise money.
