Pushing for Peace

As you are all no doubt aware, there is considerable concern in our local community regarding the involvement of Australia in events in the middle east.

Several staff members have requested that they would like to participate in public forums under the banner of the Samaritans Foundation.

The position of Samaritans in public forums on this subject has been reviewed thoroughly by Senior Management and in discussion with Board members. We have determined that our position is focused on occurrences in our local communities and, for our continued credibility, needs to remain in this arena. Therefore, Samaritans will not be participating as an organisation but we support and encourage individual staff to take appropriate action to encourage a peaceful resolution to this situation.
